Getting Started

Where should my athlete start?
It depends on age and experience. Athletes 8U to 10U typically start in Atlas Juniors. Athletes 11U start in Atlas Silver. Athletes 12U to 18U try out for Atlas Gold — American or Atlas Black — National. Not sure? Fill out the athlete form and we will point you in the right direction.
Do athletes need experience?
No. Atlas Juniors and Lessons & Training are both built for athletes new to the sport. Atlas Silver, Atlas Gold — American, and Atlas Black — National are competitive programs, and coaches will help you understand the right fit at tryouts.
What age groups are offered?
Atlas serves athletes 8U through 18U. Atlas Juniors for 8U to 10U. Atlas Silver for 11U. Atlas Gold — American and Atlas Black — National for 12U to 18U. Camps, Clinics, and Lessons run across every age.
How do I know which age division my athlete belongs in?
  • 18U — Seniors: Players born on or after July 1, 2007, or players born on or after July 1, 2007 who are a high school student during some part of the current academic year.
  • 17U — Juniors: Players born on or after July 1, 2009.
  • 16U — Sophomores: Players born on or after July 1, 2010.
  • 15U — Freshmen: Players born on or after July 1, 2011.
  • 14U — 8th Grade: Players born on or after July 1, 2012.
  • 13U — 7th Grade: Players born on or after July 1, 2013.
  • 12U — 6th Grade: Players born on or after July 1, 2014.
  • 11U — 5th Grade: Players born on or after July 1, 2015.
  • 10U — 4th Grade: Players must still be 10 years old by July 1, 2016.

Club Volleyball

What is club volleyball?
Club volleyball at Atlas is a development track for athletes who are ready to be challenged and compete. Placement is decided at tryouts, where every athlete is evaluated on where they are right now and slotted into the team and age group that fits. The season begins in November with early reps, training, and lifts, then runs through June.
Can multi-sport athletes participate?
Yes. Atlas is built for athletes who play more than one sport. Multi-sport athletes can also participate in our club program. Lessons, Clinics, and Camps are flexible around outside schedules.

Training and Development

Do I need to be on a club team to train with Atlas?
No. Camps, Clinics, and Lessons & Training are open to athletes from any club, school team, rec program, or multi-sport background.

Logistics and Organization

Is Atlas VBC affiliated with any governing body?
Yes. Atlas VBC is a JVA-affiliated organization.
Do athletes need to be on an Atlas club team to train with Atlas?
No. Private lessons, small group training, camps, and clinics are open to all athletes. Club enrollment is never required to access Atlas training.
